BRF Anaesthetic and C02 Equipment Practical Training


Description
Practical session in the use of our anaesthetic and C02 equipment will run in conjunction with each other on a weekly basis. To meet the requirements for this training please see information below:

Anaesthetic Machine

Users that have not used anaesthetics before will need to register for our equipment practical session before signing up for the anaesthetics workshop provided by the UQBR veterinarian services where practical.

Procedures outlined below for registering for the practical In-house equipment training:

Please register by selecting the content – calendar and select a session that is suitable.

In-house practical training will include:

- Machine set up and navigation
- Health and Safety
- Use of the Far- Infrared warming heat pads
- Use of warm air control units including, QUBE and probe.
- Changing a 02 cylinder
- Consumables
- Workspace decontamination and equipment checks
- Additional questions


C02 Timer Machine

Practical training in use of the C02 timer machines for animal euthanasia will be only available for existing users that have completed the following courses in the UQBR Learning management system:

- UQBR - Euthanasia Fundamentals in Rodents
- UQBR - Euthanasia - Carbon Dioxide Asphyxiation in Mice and Rats

In-house training will include:

- Operation of the C02 timer boxes
- Health and Safety
- Workspace decontamination and equipment check
